Gotta Have Park Festival

"You Gotta Have Park" Festival

October 22, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The 2nd annual "You Gotta Have Park" festival is planned for Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Shelby Farms. This one-day, park-wide, family festival will celebrate the important role that Shelby Farms plays in the health and vitality of our community.

The October date allows the festival to showcase both the recreational and pastoral aspects of Shelby Farms. Festival attendees will have an opportunity to discover the many treasures of the park. Some of the activities planned for the festival include a nature walk, an MTA bike race, canoe and kayak events, a fishing rodeo, kite-flying, pony rides, hot air balloons, a children's play area, and a "yappy hour" especially for dogs. There will be a broad range of music from blues to bluegrass. An "artists market" will feature original works by emerging and established artists, and a variety of restaurant

vendors will be on hand offering delectable culinary treats.

"Shelby Farms Park makes Shelby County a better place to live, work and play. You Gotta Have Park Festival is a healthy and fun way to connect diverse groups to this great resource in the center of our community, while raising much needed funds for park improvements and programming," states Laura Adams, President of Friends of Shelby Farms.
