Data Sources
The main data sources used by the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Healthy Memphis Data Center to track key community health outcomes are detailed below. Extracts of these databases are being maintained on the Shared Urban Database (SUDS - http://suds.memphis.edu/) with the assistance of the Healthy Memphis Data Center.
The Memphis Behavioral Risk Factor Survey (MBRFS) –This survey was developed and is maintained by University of Memphis’ Center for Community Criminology and Research (CCCR), the Mid-South Social Survey Program and the University of Tennessee’s Healthy Memphis Data Center. The MBRFS uses the identical questions as the CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Survey (BRFSS) as its core questions so that results from it can be directly compared with national and state statistics. Additional questions are directed to focus in on the factors that can help us better attack the obesity and diabetes epidemic in the MidSouth. For more information go to the web links listed below:
